Master magician Greg Frewin says it’s all about theatre, illusion and good old-fashioned entertainment

Greg Frewin got his first magic kit when he was seven years old. His parents ordered the kit after he saw it advertised on television. Frewin spent hours entertaining his friends in his hometown of Hamilton.

But it wasn’t until he was 12 and his grandfather took him to Toronto to see Canadian magician Doug Henning that Frewin truly became spellbound.

Until a better solution becomes apparent, the feed for this blog will only show a snippet of the post. Those reading the feed will have to click through to read the rest.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Toronto: Abracadabaret turns 10!

From the Abracadabaret newsletter:
It's been ten years since the launch of Friday Night Magic / The Magical Arts Festival and we're throwing a party. Though we've changed our name and venue several times over the years, the dream of bringing live magic to Toronto audiences continues.

On Friday, October 14, 2011 at 8:00 PM  we're returning to one of our old haunts, The Charlotte Room, for an amazing event. We've had dozens of magicians on our stage in ten years and we're bringing back our favourites for a fantastic evening of conjuring and cocktails.

Proceeds from the evening go to support War Child Canada - specifically a youth program in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Tickets are already available on our site.

I had the pleasure of helping out for the first few seasons of the Magical Arts Festival, under the guidance of James Biss, over 10 years ago.  I remember rubbing shoulders with Richard Forget, Derek Selinger, Jason Palter, Alain NuLoran, Anthony Lindan, Chris Pilsworth and so many more!  How fabulous is it that this vision continues under the care of James Alan.
